Recently we moved back home to Georgia from Kentucky. I never officially wrote about that little experience. It’s been a good one. A little stressful at times for me. We finally found our missing can opener last week (thank the Lord), and everyone is settling into a nice routine.
One week after Delaney’s birth my mom, Judson, Delaney and I hopped on a plane and headed South. Deek and his dad stayed in Kentucky one final weekend to load up the moving van and say good-bye to our church.
The babies and I stayed with my parents until Deek made it into town.
Judson discovered the water hose one afternoon while we were playing outside. Delaney snuggled in Granddaddy’s arms. JuJu played in the water with Judson. I took pictures. A fun time was had by all!
Every morning around 4:00 AM Deek wakes up and heads down stairs to his office to get a jump start on his school work. He’s always been an early bird, and says that he gets his best work done in the mornings.
We’re happy to say that we have reason to celebrate in the Dubberly house! Because of all of this hard work Deek was officially granted PhD candidate status earlier this week! Basically, he has completed all course work requirements for the PhD and just has the dissertation to finish! One last step until we have a Dr. Deek in the house.
Congratulations, Deek! Thanks for working so hard at everything you do, and we’re so proud of you. We thank God for you every day!
A few weeks ago we all packed up, and took a trip down to Georgia to celebrate Judson’s first birthday with family. We had the party on Mrs. Laura and Mr. Brian’s back porch which is one of Judson’s favorite spots. He loves swinging on the porch calling the ducks.
Our theme was baseball, and we had a great time. Aunt April was sweet to take pictures so Deek and I could enjoy Judson and the party. Judson loved celebrating his first birthday with family.
NaNa and Papa’s yard looked beautiful with flowers blooming everywhere. JuJu did all of our grocery shopping for us, and came in really early to help cook and decorate. Aunt Meagan helped so much with getting the finishing touches just right. Aunt Kristina made our yummy cake and smash cake.
And…because Judson says there can’t ever be a celebration without lots of balloons Granddaddy, Daddy, JuJu and Aunt Meagan blew up a lot of balloons! (over 200 🙂 )
Thanks to everyone who came and those who helped. We couldn’t imagine celebrating Judson’s birthday any other way!
Yesterday we celebrated Judson’s first birthday. It’s hard to believe that he was once this small.
Judson is our little delight, and we had such fun celebrating him all day. He even had a little birthday party at his babysitter’s house!
JuJu, Grandaddy, Aunt Mae, Aunt Kiah and Uncle Trent sent him 19 balloons. They also sent Mama flowers!
If there’s one thing in this world that Judson likes, it’s balloons…and running around in his birthday suit is a close second. So the combination of the two was definitely in order. Here’s us after our birthday bath:
We’re also a big fan of having Happy Birthday sung to us, and birthday cake is pretty good too!
We will be heading South in a few weeks to have our official first birthday party with family! We can hardly wait.
We had our anatomy scan just a few days ago, and we are so excited to announce that we are expecting a girl!
She kicked and wiggled the entire time during our ultrasound…much like her older brother! The ultrasound tech, Brittany, also did our anatomy scan with Judson. She commented on how wiggly our little lady was, and had to take a few re-takes to get the images she needed. We were happy to see our girl for such a long time!
Our sweet girl likes to keep her hands up by her face, and keep her little head over in the region of my right hip.
Judson announced the good news to our families with a bunch of pink balloons! He’s going to be a great big brother. We hope she’s ready to play because we have a big brother who is an expert!
Before we had the ultrasound all of our family members weighed in so congratulations are in order for Grandma Shirley, Aunt Mae, Aunt Chele, Jonah and Poppy for guessing the correct gender! NaNa, Aunt April, Uncle Greg and Cam get honorable mention because they guessed it would be a baby. haha
