Any day spent with you is my favorite day. So today is my new favorite day.
A.A. Milne (Winnie the Pooh)
Judson turned 2 months old on the 19th of this month. We went for our 2 month check up just a few days ago.
He is weighing a little over 11 pounds and is 23.5 inches long. That puts him in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th for height.
We had our immunizations at this appointment as well. He did great during the visit, but had a rough day once we got home. Lots of snuggles and kisses and Tylenol saved the day. Before 6:00 that evening he was back to his wiggly self!
We are finding our hands and making the sweetest little sounds. He loves his mama and daddy!
Today we went to our local court house for a Memorial Day ceremony. Deek was asked to say a prayer, and Judson and I wanted to tag along.
I was secretly hoping that they were going to give out those cute little miniature American flags. It’s Judson’s first Memorial Day, and we had been practicing our Pledge of Allegiance all morning! But, no such luck. Not a mini-flag in sight.
(They did have a 21 gun salute…but we left a little early before experiencing that with a 2 month old.)
But, as usual, Deek came through for us! He stopped by our local Dollar Store, and he grabbed Judson a little Memorial Day surprise on our way home.
An American flag balloon! We thought Daddy was just going in for some grilling supplies that we needed, but then he popped his head in the back seat with our balloon. Daddy is so much fun!
Judson thought the balloon was pretty neat! What a fun day for the Dubberly’s, and a great way to celebrate Judson’s first Memorial Day.
We’re thankful for those who serve and have served. We’re especially thankful for our Marine, Uncle Trent!
Happy Memorial Day!
God Almighty first planted a garden. And indeed, it is the purest of human pleasures.
We’ve just been enjoying life as a family of three lately. Here’s what we’ve been up to:
Deek FINISHED his last semester of Ph.D course work. As in completely finished with classes! He has submitted all assignments, and now we move into the next phase where we eventually crank out a dissertation. All Judson and I have to say for this is…
Only two more weeks of maternity leave. I am soaking up every last little drop of Judson sweetness on these last few days at home. Deek, Judson and I are pretty much the three amigos. We just have to get us some of those sombreros.
We have our first peony bloom of the spring. Judson and I discovered it yesterday on one of our walks. I planted it last year, but never saw it bloom. I honestly wasn’t sure it would make it after our bitterly cold winter. But here it is saying, “Happy Spring!”
Judson is growing like a weed. Yesterday, in an effort to make more drawer space, I packed up all of clothes that no longer fit. We are out of newborn clothes and officially in 0-3 months!
It was fun to see how small he had been and how much he is growing. We had to try on our winter hat from NaNa one more time before we packed it up.
Judson and I have enjoyed several outings with our friends Lauren H. and Walker while on maternity leave. Walker is only 6 weeks older than Judson, and Lauren H. and I are good friends so we think they should be too!
One morning last week we called them up, and asked if they wanted to go on an adventure with us to Stream Cliff Farms in Commiskey, Indiana. Deek was in class all afternoon, and we were looking for someone to play with!
It’s a neat little farm with a spot to grab lunch, gardens to enjoy, and greenhouses to buy flowers. I took my parents and sister there one time when they came to visit. It’s a cute spot in the middle of nowhere.
We enjoyed walking the boys around the gardens. They might not appreciate the flowers as much as us, but I’m sure one day they will appreciate playing in the dirt!
We grabbed some lunch outside, and even enjoyed dessert. Judson was a sweet little Southern boy in his monogrammed onesie and bare feet. He took a nap underneath the shade.
The greenhouses were full of pretty things.
I’m so glad Judson and Walker travel well. Lauren H. is great to do things with because we both are on “baby schedule” meaning we take things at Judson and Walker’s pace.
It was so much fun! If you’re ever up to visit Judson and I will take you to this little spot…we’ll invite Deek too!
P.S. One last picture for my Mama and Daddy! Look at these geraniums. Aren’t they pretty?
Judson has been a pretty alert baby from day one. As soon as he entered the world he began looking around, taking everything in.
Recently, Judson has become more interested in his little play mat.
He likes to be talked to, and has started cooing back. It’s the cutest thing in the world!
His Mama and Daddy think he will do!
To help us remember every little detail of our newborn Judson we were happy to welcome Amy Horn into our home. Here are a few of our favorites!
Daddy is in class all day today…from 8:00am until 8:00pm! But, we are happy to spare him since he’s at the end of his last semester!
We are proud of you, Daddy!
We all can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and we can’t wait to celebrate the end of this semester!
